2/9/2004 - Now here's something we all could use! Real-time traffic reports for many California cities, including the big smoky (LA) at  traffic (california) from Squeezenet. This service should be rolled out Nationwide soon. Wonder if we can get it here in London,or Rome or any other of those big traffic cities?

2/9/2004 - The more we do withThumbtips the more surprised (and pleased!) we are at the new capabilities opened up. Check this: since many of our links are html based (instead of wap) you can use your PC browser to preview links and sites at home or office (we don't mean a screenshot , actually use them!). Then, when you're on the road, you know exactly where to go. Try that with a wap site or Avantgo™! As more companies get hip to the possibilities we believe the mobile web is going to explode! The Thumbtips site on the PC is the same url. Go Fish!.

1/9/2004 - Mobile Tip #001 : Instead of using the Back button in your browser it can work out faster, and more economical, to use your history list to return to a previous page. Depending on how your phone handles its cache this can avoid repeat downloads, but don't forget to refresh or reload if you need up-to-the-minute pages.

31/08/2004 - This one isn't accessible over your phone (yet!) but it seems too good to pass up. You can download free ringtones and wallpapers and send unlimited sms messages to 1-10 people at cardboardfish.com (use a PC browser). The only catch seems to be a tag message they attach to your messages but it's worth checking out... maybe we can convince them to make it mobile-friendly?

30/08/2004 - If you subscribe to Hotmail or Yahoo mail and you haven't figured out how to get it thru your phone yet why not get it directly from their mobile-friendly sites? Our EMAIL SECTION has the links but be careful, if your inbox is loaded the message download can take a while and add up in bandwidth! email...

30/08/2004 - One of the most annoying things for my wife is having to call up the local cinema to find out movie times. She has to suffer through an automated voice response system that not only takes time and frustrates her but generally requires her to call back again and go through the whole rigma just to finally get her info. Well, thanks to Thumbtips there's a nifty way around this. Just enter your postcode/zipcode and you can get film titles, times, reviews and more, personalized to your location. Simply go to  guardian film list (uk) or to moviefone (us) and say goodbye to ring up hassles! You can find these links and many others in our entertainment section.

29/08/2004 - Most GPRS Always-on Internet Browsers are free to use for browsing connections. Users are only charged for the data downloads incurred by the amount of text on the page and any ather media such as pictures, sounds or video. Users should check their network providers for exact pricing info. Increasing the pricing plan by a few pounds or dollars can often yield significant savings. For example stepping up on Vodafone from 100 to 200 free minutes per month costs about £10.00 more yet per megabyte download rates drop from £7.00+ to approximately £2.00+. That can translate to several dozen pages! Check it out!
