4/1/2005 - SMS has become the first Killer App for mobiles (after voice calls of course!), add we have the Killer App for the Killer App! DIGITS Directory is the new added service from Thumbtips.com that frees you from having to remember shortcodes, numbers or keywords for sms services. It's directory services for SMS, Alerts and Premium Rate services on a GLOBAL scalein the palm of your hand. Just go to the Digits Directory section and check out this first of it's kind and invaluable addition to mobile convenience. |
7/9/2004 - There are many more sites around for mobiles than you would think, when you consider how little you hear of them. Unfortunately, many of them are either no longer active or filled with useless links. Thumbtips saves you time and money by checking out these sites and eliminating the duds. However, one excellent site is well worth bookmarking, click4wap (uk/ us/world). This portal contains many active links in well defined groups. An added bonus is a brief description of each site within the link. Many of the links seem to be high quality. Perhaps the best feature of Click4wap though is its' excellent local guide offering location based info, worldwide. Highly recommended! |
6/9/2004 - As thumbtips evolves we'll be refining our menu organisation and link assignments. Sometimes links will be duplicated or transferred to a more suitable section, all to aid fast, intuitive access. We've now added 3 new sections: location, for geo-based services (zip, postcode, etc.); music/video for media related sites and downloads; and hot sites! for the young, hip or edgy! We'll soon be adding a download section for the usual fare of ringtones, wallpapers etc. but there are much more interesting features, unique to Thumbtips, that will be unveiled soon. |
5/9/2004 - With strong interest in Thumbtips coming in from many countries we'll definitely be adding an international section of the best mobile links for non-english-speaking countries. Watch for this soon. |
5/9/2004 - We've just discovered probably the most comprehensive portal for the mobile web webcab and it makes us reflect on the need for Thumbtips. Webcab is a german-based, english language site that conforms totally with the web standards for access across all platforms, mobile and PC. . It has a large amount of mostly wap links with excellent brief descriptions of each, for many countries. It offers the Wireless Web Entry (WWE) service as a start point to many mobile resources, and they've been doing this since 1999! We recommend that anyone seeking content or services for mobiles should either check google (mobile web) or our listings first, then, if you don't find what you need, go to Webcab. You'll find it, along with other useful link collections, in our portals section. As for us, our mission is to provide a fast, easy route to the best (not all) of the mobile web for on-the-go mobile access. If you need in-depth browsing or a PC-friendly mobile directory then thumb a ride in the Webcab. |

- If you're looking for the best
premium content on the web (ie: paid for), look no further than !Bango.
Surely no company out there 'gets' the mobile web better than these guys!
We'll be running a feature pretty soon on the future
dominant leader of the mobile web (enough gushing!). For now if you're
looking for U-rated or Adult
content go !bango
. You'll find them, along with
other useful link collections, in our portals
section. |

- The
more we do with Thumbtips the more surprised (and pleased!) we are at the
new capabilities opened up. Check this: since many of our links are html
based (instead of wap) you can use your PC browser
to preview links and sites at home or office (we don't mean a screenshot
, actually use them!). Then, when you're on the road, you know exactly where
to go. Try that with a wap site or Avantgo™! As more companies get
hip to the possibilities we believe the mobile web
is going to explode! The Thumbtips site on the PC is the same url.
Go Fish!. |

- Mobile Tip #001 : Instead
of using the Back button
in your browser it can work out faster, and more economical,
to use your history list to
return to a previous page. Depending on how your phone handles its cache
this can avoid repeat downloads, but don't forget to refresh
or reload if you need up-to-the-minute pages.

or Yahoo mail and you haven't figured out how to get it thru your
phone yet why not get it directly from their mobile-friendly
sites? Our EMAIL SECTION has the links but
be careful, if your inbox is loaded the message
download can take a while and add up in bandwidth! email...

29/08/2004 - Most GPRS Always-on Internet Browsers are free to use for browsing connections. Users are only charged for the data downloads incurred by the amount of text on the page and any ather media such as pictures, sounds or video. Users should check their network providers for exact pricing info. Increasing the pricing plan by a few pounds or dollars can often yield significant savings. For example stepping up on Vodafone from 100 to 200 free minutes per month costs about £10.00 more yet per megabyte download rates drop from £7.00+ to approximately £2.00+. That can translate to several dozen pages! Check it out! |
